Gluten is a family of proteins found in grains like wheat, rye and barley. Gliadin and glutenin are the two main gluten proteins.

Most people tolerate gluten just fine. However, it can cause problems for people with certain health conditions. This includes Celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, wheat allergy and some other diseases.

This is the reason persons ask in a restaurant or cafe what ingredients does it contain.

Who Is Prana?

I know what you’re thinking. What does Prana have to do with gluten free products? Well, for those of you who don’t know, Prana is a Montreal-based company founded by Alon Farber and Marie-Josée Richer, speciallizing in distributing certified organic and gluten-free products.

Origin Of Prana

Prana was started in 2005, when two travelers, Alon and Marie Josee returned to Quebec after meeting in India.

To share their love of food and passion for healthy nutrition, they started out roasting nuts in her mom’s kitchen and selling their tasty treats through word-of-mouth and farmer’s markets.

Their mouth-watering Go Nuts Mix was a success. In the following years, many other tasty products were successfully developed.

The team’s efforts got officially acknowledged in 2015 when the company obtained its B Corp certification which recognizes businesses from all industries that have a positive impact on the environment and on their workers, customers and community.

So that’s a little history about the company folks! Let’s see what gluten products they are offering.

  1. Chia seems like an excellent replacement for flour when baking. Unfortunately, we don’t have that around here where I live. I would have certainly stocked my kitchen shelves with this apparently healthy and delicious flour.

Placing an order here would be the best thing to do.

Cashew nuts are my favorites. I’ve never tried them roasted and salted because we usually just eat them fresh on the go here since we have them in abundance. I definitely love these nuts. I can only imagine how delicious they could taste after roasting.

Your article is very informative and helpful. Great job.

  2. Thanks for the information.  I do not eat gluten free, but we have a very good family friend that is gluten free.  I tend not to invite them over as much as I should, since I never know what kind of food or snacks to prepare for her.  It is more difficult for someone who doesn’t watch out for gluten.

I have never heard of this brand, but the prices seem very reasonable for nuts, so I will go check them out, and then at least I have some type of snack to serve that is safe.

Are all nuts gluten free?  Or are these something different than regular nuts?  The whole gluten thing gets confusing to me.

  3. Dear Carmeta,

Indeed, Gluten free products are getting popular. Nowadays people started to pay close attention on what they eat. They are interested in eating healthy organic foods.

There is a famous saying in the part of the world where I live “Food Is Our Medicine and Medicine Is Our Food”.

The Nutritional benefits of Chia is numerous and I am amazed to know that it’s been used over 5000 years. After reading the facts you shared about Chia Seeds it’s on my list.

Cashew Nuts are my favorite too! This is the first time I hear about roasted salted cashews without oil.

I am really impressed with the price of these products and for sure I will purchase these three products. Great information, you have really given a lot of value in this article.

    Much Success!

    Paul

  4. Excellent assortment of Prana gluten-free organic products. I haven’t actually heard of this brand before so I’m interested in checking them out.  I’m always up to try new products. I don’t care about gluten but organic is nice when reasonably priced.  Thanks for showcasing these, especially the cashews.  They’re a huge favorite of mine.
